Smolensk air crash

Pilots error

The official version of the cause of crash is that pilots took the unnecessary risk in really poor weather and low visibility.

Facts that are supporting the theory:

  • there were previous examples of risky landings done by Polish military pilots (one of them ended in the crash of CASA plane, where several airforce high level officers were killed),
  • the crew ignored all the warnings that sounded in the cabin for over a minute,
  • on one of the previous flights president Kaczynski was angry at pilots when they refused to land in Georgia during the military disturbance there, which could have put extra pressure on the pilots to land,
  • nothing in the black box recordings show signs of plane failure.

Facts that oppose the theory:

  • there are no proofs of the pressure from president or any of the officials on the pilot to try to land and disregard the poor visibility.
