Con man Daniel Ocean is released from prison on parole, but he does not wait long to return to his old habits - soon after leaving the prison he visits one of his friends, Rusty Ryan, in order to set up a team for his next job. And this time he aims big - he wants to rob the Las Vegas casino, or to be specific 3 casinos at the same time. The idea sounds crazy, but the three casinos (Bellagio, The Mirage and MGM Grand) have the same owner, ruthless and at the same time very meticulous Terry Benedict, who uses the Bellagio vault to store money from all three casinos. The vault seems to be impregnable, but Danny has plan and knows someone who knows almost anything about casino security - former casino owner Reuben Tishkoff. Together they set up a team of 11 people that include different specialists - from pickpocket to explosive expert. During the preparations to robbery Rusty finds out that there is a hidden motive behind the Ocean’s plan - Terry Benedict is married to Danny’s ex-wife Tess. This calls into question the state of Danny’s mind - in poker and robbery you have to leave the emotions behind the door and forgetting that rule could put the whole team in danger.
Remake of 1960 classic crime movie, new version has equally star-filled cast, but the slow build-up from 1960 version was replaced by clever plot and much faster action, at the same time gaining some points on well developed characters. With good soundtrack and great performances from the actors it became a classic among the heist movies.
