Inside Man 2006 American mystery classic movie review
A few people in uniforms of a painting company enter a bank on Manhattan and moments later the situation escalates, once they take out their machine guns and start throwing smoke grenades. But what looks like a haphazard heist, soon turns into something completely different. The robbers take all the people inside the building as the hostages, split them into groups, make them wear overalls and lock in the offices. Once the police arrives on the scene, the bank is already taken over by the group, but apart from warning not to get any closer, the robbers have no other demands. Detectives Frazier and Mitchell take over the command, but even with their years of experience, they are baffled at first. When one of the hostages requires a medical attention, the robbers sent him out of the door, now it is up to the detectives to find out who and what they are dealing with. But with each hostage released, the interviews conducted outside create more question than provide answers.
One of the best bank heist movies - well-developed script full of surprising twists, very strong cast (Denzel Washington, Willem Dafoe, Jodie Foster, Clive Owen, Christopher Plummer) and masterful direction of Spike Lee. Unlike his other movies, this one is very dynamic, the plot keeps the audience guessing until the very end what exactly they are watching.
