The Right to Remain Silent 1996 American mystery classic movie review
Officer Christine Paley starts her duty at the police station on the night shift. Lieutenant Mike Brosloe, in charge of the station, has no time to teach her the ropes, she will have to learn the hard way the reality of the police work. Her assignment for the night is to take care of the people being brought down to the station. Among them could be people arrested in the bars or drunk drivers or thugs brought from the streets. While following the standard procedures, Paley quickly learns that there is no such thing as a typical case - each person she is dealing with that night is not exactly who they seem at the first glance. She listens to a drunk driver, who had a collision with the deer and has no idea why he was arrested, a husband who killed his wife, a crossdresser who wants to live the life he chose, a woman, who has a medical problem. Each of those conversations will change her view on things.
A TV movie based on a play. Good cast (Lea Thompson and Robert Loggia were an excellent choice) and the interesting way the stories are being told makes this film an intriguing one. Small parts of the production could have been better, but The Right to Remain Silent does not deserve to be as forgotten film as it seems to be.
