The Stranger 2020 British mystery movie review
Adam Price is a lawyer, a husband and a father, his life might looks idyllic. But everything changes one day when a woman approaches him and tells him that in the past his wife, Corinne, faked a pregnancy. Adam is surprised not only by the fact that a complete stranger would do something like that, but soon he begins to wonder if this piece of information is actually a truth. He checks the bank statements and discovers that his wife in fact did made a purchase in a company that helps women pretend to be pregnant by providing them with fake ultrasound images and even props. He chewed on that discovery for a while before he confronted Corinne, who seemed agitated, but did not explain anything. Trying not to cause an argument, he decides to back off for a while, but everything changes when his wife vanishes. She sent him a message that she needs some time and tells him he should not search for her. At first he tried not to make a big deal out of this, but when Corinne did not showed up to receive a prize for Teacher of the Year in her school, he begins to worry. His two teenage sons are also worried that Corinne left their father, but once they start to look for her, they discover a completely different side of their almost idyllic town.
Another adaptation of Harlen Coben books, kept in similar style to his other novels, where each piece of information discovered by the main character leads to another layer of mysteries that put a different light on his life to that point and the people around him.
