The Town That Dreaded Sundown 1976 American mystery drama review
In 1946, the small town of Texarkana is terrorized by attacks of the masked killer, who attacks couples in their cars, often when they are in the lover’s lane in the late afternoons. The local police officers were baffled by that case, especially since they had hardly any experience in murder cases, not to mention serial killings. It seems that the killer not only prepares well for his attacks, but also leaves very few clues to his identity. With each attack, the local residents try to avoid leaving their houses after dark when the killer always attacks. Finally, the local sheriff agrees to use outside help and an experienced officer to run the investigation, hoping this will stop the terror.
The film based on the Texarkana Moonlight Murders presents a mixture of real events that took place in 1946 and legends surrounding the case. The script was ok, especially for such a low-budget production, but the creators, for some reason, decided to add some scenes that resemble primitive comedies not a true crime drama, which not only break the flow of the story, but also do not add anything to it.
