Lake Bodom murders

Hans Assmann

Hans Assmann was German citizen living in Finland near Lake Bodom. There are many theories surrounding him, from one that assumes he used to be a Luftwaffe pilot or guard in Auschwitz concentration camp during the war, to one that assumes he was a KGB agent operating in Finland. Not to mention that he was person of interest in another crime, death of Kyllikki Saari, which also was unsolved. It is worth to mention that Saari case had different nature, suspected hit and run that lead to death of a teenage girl, supposedly Assmann’s chauffeur was driving the car.

Whether the stories about Assmann are true or not, there were suspicious circumstances that might have linked him to Lake Bodom Murder - he knew the area, on morning of June 6th 1960 he showed up in hospital in Helsinki. During the examination doctors in hospital noticed blood on his clothes and his weird behaviour (they suspected he is pretending to faint). Also the blond man that was supposedly walking away from tent and was seen by birdwatchers looked very similar to Assmann.

Lake Bodom murders comments

It is suspicious that the one guy survived almost unharmed, while the others were stabbed several times each.

I would say it is suspicious that there was nothing stolen, just bunch of items thrown into the bushes around the camp - it looks like someone was trying to make it look like an assault. And conveniently there is only one survivor.
