Disappearance of Flight MH 370

Russian hijack theory

After Flight MH 17 was shot down over Ukraine by Russian forces in July 2014, there was a theory that Russia could have been behind the hijacking of the plane. In that theory two of them would draw attention of the crew, while the third would enter the computer chamber and take over control of the plane.

Facts that are supporting the theory:

  • supposedly there were 3 Russians aboard the MH 370 (although only 1 Russian passenger was on the passenger manifest),
  • plane had enough fuel to land in Kazakhstan, satellite country of Russia,
  • the electronics chamber is easily accessible for someone, who knows the construction of the Boeing 777,
  • it is possible to take over control over the plane from the electronics chamber.

Facts that oppose the theory:

  • why? that simple question puts this whole theory to sleep - Russia had nothing to gain through that elaborate plan, but would risk an international scandal if something would go wrong,
  • even if there were 3 Russians aboard the plane (and we know only about one), so far, we know very little about them, they might have been elderly couple or someone, who left Russia years ago.

Only the extended suicide theory makes any sense - the changes of the course were deliberate, the route was not random, the radio silence does not seem accidental.
