Dyatlov Pass incident
The avalanche
Basic explanation for the incident is avalanche. The weather was poor, it was snowing, there was strong wind.
Facts that are supporting the theory:
- this would explain why they were running away from the tent in panic, but it doesn’t explain why would they cut the tent from within,
- in a way this could explain the wounds of Dubinina and Zolotarev, but not the the skull damage of Thibeaux-Brignolles.
Facts that oppose the theory:
- the avalanches don’t last long, why wouldn’t they just return to camp after the avalanche would end? there was a spot where they tried to start fire, so the panic ended at some point,
- avalanches usually don’t cause radioactive contamination,
- wouldn’t avalanche pretty much cover the footprints of the group so the investigators wouldn’t be able to find them?
- if the avalanche or snow would cover the tent and they would have to cut themselves free why wouldn’t they just stick together instead of running away separately?

Can you solve a mystery like this one?
Dyatlov Pass incident comments
There is not much to solve, hypothermia explains most of the behaviour of the victims - they stripped off their clothes due to extreme cold.
