While on stakeout police detective Carl Morck decides to take a chance and enter the suspect’s house without waiting for backup. His partner is shot and Morck has to take the heat for poor judgement. He is not sacked, but sent to the archive section, where he will be reviewing the cold cases. It turns out that the archive section is actually only one person, Assad, and the whole job is to get through 2-3 files a day and put them back on the shelf. But Morck takes a closer look at the case of Merete Lynggaard, succesful politician, that disappeared 10 years ago while traveling onboard of a ferry full of passengers. Against the demands of his superiors Morck re-opens the case and reviews all the evidence. He doesn’t yet realize that Merete is actually alive and kept in captivity.
Danish bestseller, from Mikkel Norgaard, turned into intriguing film that shows the police investigation into the cold case of young politician that some day simply disappeared. Well developed characters, intereting plot and layers after layers of mysteries behind it.
