mysterious eventspsychological thriller
Running time: 93 minutes
Language: English
Aleister Bane, once a famous screenwriter, now is struggling to even pay the rent in a run-down hotel he lives. He is three months behind schedule to submit the script he was suppose to work on and the produced is getting tired of his constant excuses and the advances he took against his fee. He has exactly two weeks to finish the script or he is fired. Aleister is broke, he is behind on payments for basically everything, this is the deadline he cannot miss. He agrees to meet with a woman called Lavinia, who says she is a student and would like to learn something from his experience. During the dinner Aleister pretends he left his credit card behind to cover the fact that he has just few bucks to his name that he got for pawning his watch. But what happens after the dinner escapes his mind - he was sitting at his typewriter, he fell asleep, there was a phone call, then he was interrogated by an investigator as suspect in the murder case, where Lavinia is the victim. But that was just the beginning...
Straight-to-video thriller clearly made with really limited budget, but surprisingly well-known actors in the cast. Billy Zane and Martin Landau took some small parts, while two investigators were played by Danny Glover and Michael Rooker and Robert Miano was playing the main character. The whole thing (as it is usual in low budget productions) was written and directed by the same person, Swiss filmmaker Lucius C. Kuert, who has exactly two productions in his account, a short movie and Mysteria. The screenplay is chaotic, the whole thing seems like a decent go at the neonoir genre, but the biggest mystery is how this production could afford well known actors and not a penny was spent on a decent screenplay.
