Just an ordinary afternoon on one of the subway stations in New York City. A train stops, some passengers step out and others step in. Among those latter are four men, named Blue, Grey, Green and White. At the first glance, they look just like any other people around, but they are not here to travel, they plan to hijack that train. It might sound like a completely idiotic thing to do, after all, the train is on the rails and there is no way to change that. But the four men have thought through their plan to the tiniest detail - with 18 hostages on board, they stop the train in an empty tunnel between stations. When they contact the New York City Transit Police via radio, no one is taking them seriously, but Lieutenant Garber begins to suspect that this is gonna be a shift to remember. The hijackers demand a million dollars within an hour, otherwise, they will start to kill the hostages.
An excellent 1974 thriller remade twice already since the premiere, but none of those remakes was as a great success. The original version with an amazing cast (including Walter Matthau and Robert Shaw) gave this classic movie an additional layer of greatness. Right until the end, the story keeps the viewers involved and wondering if the plan can actually work. A must-see!
