Murder of JonBenet Ramsey

The murderer confesses

In 2006 surprising change has developed in the investigation - 41-year-old John Mark Karr suddenly confessed to killing JonBenet in e-mails that were sent to Michael Tracey, a journalism professor at the University of Colorado. Police tracked down the source of the e-mails and Karr was apprehended in Bangkok, Thailand, but after the initial interviews the police were sceptical about involvement of Karr in the case since he was unable to give them any informations that were unavailable in the media at that time. Karr claimed that he drugged Ramsey and sexually assault but claimed her death was an accident, but the autopsy report has already ruled out his claims. DNA samples taken from Karr also did not match DNA found on Ramsey’s body, so police dropped any charges against him since, apart from his vague confession, there were no evidence to link him with the crime scene in a first place.
