Smolensk air crash

Explosion theory

The explosion theory was built on few details - the assumption that the collision with tree could not break the wing of the plane and that on the remainings of the plane there were particles of chemical materials that could have been used in explosives. But the logic behind the theory is highly questionable.

Facts that are supporting the theory:

  • the particles on the plane remainings could have been from explosives, but they are also used in the detergents used to clean the cabin.

Facts that oppose the theory:

  • there is no recording of any explosion on the black box, but there is the sound of collision with the tree,
  • the record from black box does not show any signs of failure of any part of the plane,
  • dialogue between pilots does not show any signs that there is something wrong with the plane until the collision with the tree,
  • there are no signs on the plane remainings that would suggest explosion,
  • Russians did not gained anything on the crash,
  • if they would gain anything blowing up the plane just above the ground did not guarantee that there would be no survivors,
  • blowing up plane just above the ground would damage a lot of trees and leave a lot of evidence,
  • blowing up plane over Russian soil would make the Russians the first suspects, blowing up before they would cross the border would not,
  • blowing up the plane on much higher altitude would scatter the remains over large area and would make the investigation much harder plus it would guarantee there would be no survivors plus it would leave very few evidence.
